The workshop invites participants to discover archery as a tool for self-development. In the spirit of Célestin Freinet, we will learn through direct experience. Participants will move from their first uncertain attempts (tâtonnement), through the analysis of their own movement, to finding rhythm and repeatability. It is a lesson in mindfulness, where the target is not the end, but feedback that allows self-correction and the discovery of inner calm.

School is a place of meetings and misunderstandings, of communication and lack of communication. Adults, girls and boys come together, work and live together. Dialogues and conflicts arise, challenging us in our everyday pedagogical work.
In this workshop, we will share some theoretical and methodological tools for getting to know these worlds (interculturality) and for fostering dialogue and collective learning (educommunication).

I invite you to a workshop on creating motanki — traditional Slavic intention dolls made without using a needle. During the meeting, we will learn about their symbolism, their ancient meaning and the role of herbs in Slavic traditions and everyday rituals. Each person will create their own motanka from natural materials and selected herbs, giving it a personal character and intention. It will be a creative and relaxing time close to nature, handicraft and old stories.

Kamila Trojnar - I became interested in batik many years ago, as a teenager attending art classes at the Ostrołęka Gallery. There, for several years, I learned to create using this technique. I then continued to explore it when I lived in Warsaw, where I created in community cultural centres in Praga and Ochota. When I returned to my hometown and my children had grown a little, I fell in love again with the extraordinary possibilities offered by batik.

Batik is an Indonesian technique of dyeing fabric with wax and textile dyes, and this workshop introduces participants to its secrets. Kamila Trojnar - I started practising yoga over 10 years ago. I learned hatha yoga under the watchful eye of Leszek Kawa at the Warsaw school OmŚrodek. I tried different schools and classes, but it was at OmŚrodek that I fell in love with yoga the most; for years I practised with them on site in Warsaw, and later online from Ostrołęka. They taught me a lot, and now in Ostrołęka I pass this knowledge on to the people who come to my classes.

The world of education is facing a major challenge: how can we educate for respect for the environment in the current situation of climate change and exploitation of the planet’s resources?

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This workshop will present part of a participatory research project carried out in France by the ATD Fourth World movement, with the participation of ICEM Freinet pedagogy.
The aim of this research was to understand how school can reduce the mechanisms of school exclusion affecting the poorest children. I will present the work I carried out with a school working in cooperative pedagogy. We followed two research hypotheses: “If we value what children learn outside school: 1) this can change the relationship with school of the most vulnerable children; 2) this can foster the link with parents.” This valorisation was made concrete through pedagogical devices derived from Freinet pedagogy. I will present the content of the experiment, the research results and the limitations observed. The exchange between participants will invite us to question this research and to connect it with other experiences of valuing extra-school cultures in different contexts.
The workshop has been designed to function in three languages: the slideshow will be written in French, English and Spanish and presented alternately in these three languages. Exchanges will take place in language groups. A synthesis at the end of the workshop will be organized with cooperative translation of the conclusions.

Gabi Varaldi and Mariana Mercadal - Mariana is a teacher, Uruguayan, with a degree in Educational Sciences from the University of the Republic (Uruguay), and a doctoral student in Education at the University of La Plata, Argentina. She is a teacher educator and participates in the Study and Work Group on School Form and Pedagogical Experimentation at the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences in Uruguay. She has specialized in the study of socio-pedagogical missions in Uruguay.
She is a member of MEPFU (Freinet Popular Education Movement Uruguay), serving as international delegate since 2022. Participant in REMFA.

Gabi is a teacher, Uruguayan, with a Master’s degree in Education from the University of the Republic (Uruguay), whose thesis is entitled “Latin American Freinet Pedagogy: Collective Identity, Political Meaning and Alterations to the School Form”. She is co-coordinator of the Study and Work Group on School Form and Pedagogical Experimentation at the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences in Uruguay. Co-founder of the Freinet Popular Education Movement Uruguay. In 2019, together with two other colleagues, she published “The hand thinks: in the footsteps of Freinet in Uruguay”, the first book on Freinet pedagogy produced in Uruguay. She has been a member of CA-FIMEM since 2022, to date. She has previously participated in several commissions at the international level. Participant in REMFA.

In this workshop, Freinet pedagogy and two research projects are intertwined, explaining the particularities and specific constructions of this pedagogy in Latin America, generating what we can today call Latin American Freinet pedagogy. We will engage in dialogue about the pedagogies of the South, from a historical and present-day perspective, following a decolonial path open to contexts, memory, and common and diverse realities.

FACILITATOR
Michał Malinowski is the founder and director of the Storyteller Museum – Museum of Fairy Tales, Fables and Stories, as well as a storyteller, educator, writer, artist and cultural researcher. For many years he has been developing original educational methods that combine storytelling, imagination, education, intangible cultural heritage and new technologies.

He lectures in Creative Thinking and Digital Storytelling at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków, where he inspires students to create innovative ideas, narratives and educational experiences. He studied in Poland, Switzerland, Japan and the United States, and conducted ethnographic research in West Africa.

He is the author of Polish Folklore and Folktales, recipient of the AESOP Accolade. He develops international projects, workshops and exhibitions devoted to creativity, storytelling culture, nonlinear thinking and collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence.

He is also the creator of the MuBaBaO Creative Thinking Blocks and the Impossible Questions Laboratory.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This workshop introduces the Inventors' Playground and the MuBaBaO Creative Thinking Blocks as an open educational tool that encourages experimentation, collaboration, free expression, and creative, nonlinear thinking.

Its educational approach combines inspiration from Célestin Freinet's pedagogy with the principles of nonlinear pedagogy, according to which learning does not follow a single predetermined path but emerges through action, relationships, experimentation, mistakes and constantly changing circumstances.

MuBaBaO Blocks have no single instruction manual and no single correct way of being used. Their wooden elements can be combined, transformed and reinterpreted in countless ways. Rather than reproducing ready-made models, participants create their own structures, inventions, environments, systems and solutions to open-ended challenges.

The workshop begins with free exploration of the materials and individual experimentation before naturally evolving into collaborative teamwork. Participants will design projects such as "The School of the Future," "The Inventors' Playground," or environments that foster children's interests and creativity. Every challenge may lead to completely different outcomes, as solutions emerge through dialogue, negotiation of meaning, responding to others' ideas and continuous refinement of earlier concepts.

The workshop demonstrates that education can be organised not as a linear process leading everyone along the same path, but as a dynamic learning environment in which diversity, unpredictability and change become valuable educational resources.

Rather than providing ready-made answers, the facilitator creates conditions that encourage independent discovery, decision-making, cooperation and creative risk-taking.

Within this approach, the MuBaBaO Creative Thinking Blocks become both a space for exploratory learning inspired by Freinet pedagogy and a practical laboratory of nonlinear pedagogy. Knowledge is not simply transmitted—it emerges through action, relationships, material experimentation and collaborative problem-solving.

Sexual and emotional education is currently part of the curriculum in almost every country, though it is implemented differently depending on the context. This topic is a key issue for gender equality, the empowerment of children and young people, and access to democracy. Commission 12 (Gender Equality) has been working on this topic for a year. We discussed initiatives from France, Germany, Cameroon, and Mexico, which are presented in the RIDEF. In this workshop, we would like to discuss with participants their educational practices in their respective countries, how the Freinet pedagogy addresses this issue with students as well as parents, and what difficulties they meet. We will work in language groups (French, English, Spanish) and then in a large group with translations.

The mobile escape room “Locomotive” is an educational project created by Freinet animators and methodological consultants at the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Teacher Education Centre (KPCEN) in Bydgoszcz. The game was created to promote reading in schools. The puzzle room is based on motifs from the famous poem “Lokomotywa” by Julian Tuwim. It is a mobile escape room. This means that the activity and props can come directly to RIDEF. The game teaches logical thinking and group cooperation. It combines mathematics with various disciplines — mathematics is key in coding the tasks. Participants work in small groups of 4 to 5 people. Their task is to solve puzzles, break ciphers and codes.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Ceramic Inspirations are creative workshops that engage all the senses and develop fine motor skills. Creating functional forms gives meaning to children’s activities, while at the same time teaching mindfulness, concentration and perseverance, as well as developing imagination. Children learn to accept the diverse sensations they experience through contact with clay and other natural materials such as leaves, sticks, bark and stones. They explore texture and develop their sense of touch. Playing with clay supports sensory integration as well as physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, including a range of skills necessary for starting school.

Ceramics is an art form connected with functional objects. In the past, pottery — one of the oldest crafts — consisted of making vessels and objects by hand from clay and other ceramic materials. The name of these products comes from the Greek term keramikos, which in turn derives from the word keramos — earth, clay.

During this workshop, you will independently create simple functional and artistic forms using household tools such as a rolling pin and a paddle. You will learn how to work with clay as a material and become familiar with hand-building techniques, from the simplest to the most difficult. You will also learn about the organizational conditions, materials and tools necessary for working with children.

I will show participants how I create personalized initial stamps together with primary school children aged 10 and above.

Each participant will design and make their own stamp using simple materials, and then use it to create a graphic artwork for an exhibition.

These stamps can be used for many years as a personal signature and as a tool for creating graphic compositions.

The workshop will be conducted in German, French and Spanish. Written instructions will also be available in English and Polish.

Iwona Ewa Klinger is a cultural animator, educator and craft artist who has been involved for many years in artistic, theatrical and community-building projects in schools, local communities and intergenerational settings. She collaborates on artistic, cultural and educational initiatives with the Kashubian Folk University.

She specializes in artistic handicrafts, particularly the creation of paper flowers, which she uses as a creative tool to foster mindfulness, calmness and personal expression.

In her practice, she combines manual artistic activities with drama techniques, creating a safe environment where participants can experience movement, self-expression, cooperation and creativity. Her workshops are known for their atmosphere of calm, attentiveness and joyful creative energy.

Iwona works with teachers, young people, senior citizens and multicultural groups. Through art and shared creative experiences, she supports participants in discovering their strengths, building relationships and developing social skills. Since 6 December 2022, she has been a member of the Audit Committee. She promotes the ideas of Freinet pedagogy. She is the author of workshops for students of WSHE in Zamość, pedagogical innovations, educational materials, and regulations for competitions, reviews and olympiads. She has organized national conferences and workshops run by the Przemyśl Regional Group, as well as cyclical reviews, competitions and olympiads at national, county and local levels.

Aleksandra Piela is a certified early childhood education teacher, as well as a teacher of pedagogical therapy and regional education. She is a long-standing animator of PSAPC.F. For several terms, she served as secretary in KZK. She is the chair of the Katowice Regional Group and a promoter of Célestin Freinet’s pedagogy. She organized national Freinet conferences in 2006, 2012 and 2019 in Katowice, as well as regional conferences and methodological workshops for teachers. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
NeuroRhythm Lab is a participatory workshop designed around the principles of neurodiversity, where everyone is invited to express themselves freely through sound and movement, and to create together in their own unique way.

Participants are divided into two groups: a Sound Group and a Movement Group, each exploring their own strengths and modes of expression. The Sound Group creates rhythms and music using everyday objects and simple percussion instruments, while the Movement Group explores spontaneous and creative expression through their bodies.

The two groups then come together to listen and respond to one another's sounds and movements, collaboratively creating an improvised performance in which everyone participates in their own way. Rather than emphasizing technical skill or prior experience, the workshop values diverse forms of expression, collaboration, and mutual respect. It offers an inclusive artistic experience where everyone—including neurodivergent participants—can contribute, connect, and discover their own rhythm together.

FACILITATOR
Dorota Kozioł-Żurawska is a consultant teacher for preschool education at RODN WOM Katowice. She is a certified teacher, holds a master’s degree in early childhood and preschool education with speech therapy, and is also a special educator, oligophrenopedagogue, specialist in pedagogical therapy and early development support, art therapist, dog therapist, lecturer in special education and dog therapy, education manager and regional educator.

She promotes the Silesian language and Silesian culture, co-created a draft core curriculum for the Silesian language for schools and preschools, and authored a regional education programme for preschool education. She promotes outdoor education and Célestin Freinet pedagogy in public and non-public preschools. She is the author of nationwide projects in regional, nature, artistic, mathematical, outdoor and Freinet education, therapeutic programmes in dog therapy, and several dozen articles related to preschool education.

The workshop introduces participants to traditional patterns connected with Upper Silesia in a new and unusual form. Scarves, ribbons and brooches made during the workshop, despite their simplicity, will refer in a modern way to the traditional symbol of Upper Silesia - the rose.

This motif can be found in traditional regional dress, in the paintings of Silesian primitivist artists and in architecture. Simple and for everyone, based on tradition - this is the guiding motto of the workshop.

In Poland, as in the whole of Europe, we as citizens have democratic access to nature and forests, which are our common good. Do we use this as teachers? Can we more often conduct classes outside the classroom while still implementing the curriculum? These questions are rhetorical; we know the answer is yes. So where are we today, what are we doing, and what could we do? Already 100 years ago, Célestin Freinet said: “Nature is an integral part of the learning process.” Is this still true, or is it only now becoming true?

In this workshop, we will experience a multisensory immersion in nature, the so-called forest bathing, or the Japanese shinrin-yoku. We will spend time outdoors, with activities activating the senses of smell, sight, touch, hearing and taste. We will see how much we can experience and what benefits a class could gain from this, especially if such outings were cyclical and carried out in all four seasons.

Justyna Gorce-Bałut - She has worked with children and young people for 20 years, first in cultural institutions, including the Centre for Contemporary Art, and later in schools and kindergartens. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This participatory workshop uses the music of BTS and K-pop, one of Korea's most influential global cultural movements, as a medium for education and collaborative creation. Through Korean popular culture, participants will experience the Freinet principles of free expression, cooperation, and learning together by creating and sharing ideas collectively.

The workshop follows a participatory and collaborative learning process. Participants begin by sharing their perspectives on Korea, then explore free expression through Korean traditional music and movement. Using selected lyrics from BTS's Dynamite, small groups create and develop their own interpretations through movement, sound, language, drawing, or performance.

The groups are progressively combined to integrate their ideas into one collective creation, followed by reflection and dialogue. This process emphasizes free expression, cooperation, and learning through shared creative experiences in the spirit of Freinet.
